Poodles are a very popular breed to have as a pet and also very popular to breed with other dog breeds. To learn more about the popularity of the poodle see the article on this site at Poodle Popularity.
Although there are not Breeds of Poodles, there are plenty of Poodle mixes. One of the most popular poodle mix is the Cockapoo described in this article.
By mixing the breed of poodle with the breed of Cocker Spaniel, a Cockapoo is created. The Cockapoo is not a dog breed, rather it is a mixed breed and in theory takes all the desirable qualities of their parents. In reality one hopes the mixed breed dog will take the desirable traits of the purebred dog.
From the Cocker Spaniel, the mixed puppy will hopefully take Cocker’s characteristics of being mellow, friendly, having a pleasant personality and a sturdy build. The Poodle bred traits wanted are intelligence, cleverness, and a non-shedding hypoallergenic coat.
THE COAT OF THE POODLE
The poodle’s coat is a major reason the poodle is mixed with other breeds. The poodle’s coat does not shed and is hypoallergenic, meaning the poodle is (in my opinion) the best dog breed to have if you suffer from allergies. Most people will not have an allergic reaction to a poodle.
HEALTH AND GENETIC DISORDERS
By mixing two breeds Cockapoo Puppies become less prone to genetic disorders. Poor breeding, like mating a brother and sister, is a cause of genetic disorders. Breeding with a completely different bloodline from a different breed strengthens the gene pool of the puppies.
When Poodles became a popular dog, this caused a very high demand for poodle puppies. Poodles were generated for money not health. Inbreeding and unhealthy breeding occurred rampantly causing genetic health problems for future generations of these poodles. The same poor breeding was done with Cocker Spaniels as their popularity grew. Known health ailments are associated with each breed due to breeding to meet demand versus breeding to advance the quality of the breed.
It is possible to obtain a healthy purebred. Proper breeding was also done at the time of the breed’s popularity. By researching the bloodlines of the parents, and/or having both sire and dam registered with the AKC can insure healthy genetic bloodlines for the purebred puppy.
NO GUARANTEE OF TRAITS
Remember, by mixing the breeds, the traits you like about a breed will not necessarily be passed on to the litter. Combining the best traits of both breeds is the goal. Some of the mixed bred puppies will have the desirable traits, or may have one or two of the desired traits.
It is hoped that by mixing a poodle with a Cocker Spaniel, the cockapoo will have a coat that is non-shedding and hypoallergenic, be very intelligent, be friendly and have a sturdy build. Some cockapoos will have a less shedding coat and will be less likely to cause allergenic reactions. Some cockapoos will have a shedding coat and will cause allergic reactions. The same is true of all the traits.
Cockapoos are not a dog breed. At least not yet. If the cockapoos with the desired traits are bred to other cockapoos with the desired traits from a different bloodline, then over time the cockapoo will have predictable traits. For example, all pure bred poodles have a non shedding coat and is hypoallergenic. The pure breed Cocker Spaniel has a shedding coat and will cause allergenic reactions. As of now, cockapoos may or may not have a non shedding coat, or a coat that sheds less than the Cocker Spaniel. Researching the breeder of the cockapoo and seeing the parents is the best indication of the traits of a specific cockapoo puppy.
The mix of traits will be in each litter and puppies in the same litter could have different characteristics. One may have a shedding coat and one may have the non-shedding coat. One puppy may be very active and another calmer.
Well bred cockapoos are calm, fun, mellow and loving. They are pleasant, have patience and very sweet. Their intelligence helps them be trained and entertaining.
A personality of a dog is mainly dependent on the parents. To predict personality meet the parents and take time to get to know them. There are Cocker Spaniels and Poodles that are skittish, nervous and not friendly, who will pass on these undesirable traits. There are known health issues for each breed who will pass on the genetic tendency for that health problem.
By spending time with the puppy before committing a great deal of heartache can be avoided.
TAKING CARE OF A COCKAPOO
Cockapoo puppies can be taken care of with weekly bathing, brushing and clipping of nails. They can live a healthy and a long life with proper nutrition, medical care and good living conditions.
Cockapoo puppies have a very good immune system so they are less prone to diseases. They remain healthy with regular physical exercises. The cockapoo needs physical activities and loves to play. At a minimum take them for a daily walk, and have space for them to run and play or take them to a dog park.
COCKAPOOS AND KIDS
The nature of Cockapoo make them ideal for kids. They love to be with children and will be an excellent companion. The personality traits of calmness and patience can make the cockapoo an excellent choice for a child with emotional challenges, such as being withdrawn or autism. The cockapoo can make an excellent therapy dog.
Cockapoo breeders can become state licensed or register with the American Cockapoo Club as a way to show they are knowledgeable breeders. Cockapoo breeders breed healthy well socialized puppies in a variety of colors and coats. Research the breeder and ask lots of questions until you feel confident about the puppy you are about to buy. Saying a dog is a Cockapoo does not exactly imply purebred Poodles and Cocker Spaniel parents. Many cross breeds of poodles have more than one breed in the bloodline. See if the breeder has a hereditary chart of the parents, called the sire and dam.
It is worth taking the time to examine breeders. Be sure the cockapoo is healthy and pleasant mannered. A well breed cockapoo will be a loving wonderful addition to your home. Take Care.

There are many different types of Cajon Drums, so many that they are difficult to keep up with. However, there are three types of drums that seem to be more popular than the rest. These are the Box Cajon, the Conga Cajon, and the Laptop Cajon. Each of these types of drums offer something different and they can all be enjoyed for different reasons.
The Box Cajon is the most popular drum on the market today. It is an instrument that is sat on and usually shaped as a square or rectangle and made of wood. Sometimes it’s made of plexiglass or fiberglass. The drummer will often run his foot up and down the sides to control the pressure and sound. This can create some great, unique sounds.
The Box Cajon is often around ¾ in thickness, but that number can vary. Its front side is often thinner than the others. This is so the air can escape from the corners, which creates a smacking sound. There is usually a hole on the back side, which allows air to escape. You will find that this drum is a great instrument. The coolest aspect is that all four sides can be used.
The Conga Cajon is used in a different manor. This conga-like drum is played at its top and can come with many different sides. Unlike the Box Cajon, sitting is optional as well as all of its sides are completely solid. The only cavity is the sound hole at the bottom. This instrument is a lot of fun, especially if you are using more than one at a time.
The Laptop Cajon is different than the other two because it is shaped to sit in your lap. There are humps in its design to help make this comfortable. The humps serve a dual purpose. They also help with the quality of the sound. This instrument is easy to carry, making it a favorite of many, as they can take it where they please without much hassle.
As you can see each of the Cajon Drums [http://cajonguide.com/cajon-drums/] mentioned are unique. Its up to you to decide which Cajon Drum [http://cajonguide.com/] is right for you. Get out and try one today if you haven’t already! And get to drumming!

Removing excess waste is one of the main challenges to a successful reef aquarium. It’s often easy for beginners to forget that corals are living animals that excrete waste. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrates and phosphates are problematic to corals, fishes, inverts and other animals. An increase in ammonia that is not quickly removed or converted can easily crash a reef aquarium. High amounts of nitrates and phosphates can hinder coral growth and cause discoloration.
Typical means of removing nitrates and phosphates involve water changes, skimmers and the use of macroalgae. All three are very effective but the use of macroalgae is the easiest and most economical. Skimmers are often expensive and require cleaning few times a week. Water changes are time consuming and can get expensive for large reef aquariums. Macroalgae can effectively absorb phosphates and nitrates as long as a light source is present. The only maintenance required is pruning excess growth once a month. While skimmers and water changes incur costs, excess trimmings of macroalgae can often be sold.
A side affect of excess nutrients is an increase of nuisance microalgae. Microalgae can ruin the beauty of a reef aquarium and suffocate corals. The good news is that macroalgae is able to able to starve microalgae of nutrients and thus greatly reducing its presence.
There is an abundance of choices of macroalgae that include Chaetomorpha, Caulerpa, Gracilaria and Ulva. In terms of phosphate and nitrate absorption, Caulerpa is the most aggressive and effective.
However, Caulerpa can be potentially dangerous. Caulerpa can suddenly dissolve and release toxic elements and the excess nutrients that were absorbed. This happens when Caulerpa is lacking light or nutrients. A second problem with Caulerpa is its hold fast roots. Caulerpa has the ability to attach itself to hard objects making removal extremely difficult. With these risks it’s better to choose another macroalgae.
Chaetomorpha is an excellent and likely most popular choice among reef aquarists for nutrient uptake. Although the nutrient absorption rate for Chaetomorpha is not as aggressive as Caulerpa, it doesn’t pose any risks that Caulerpa does. Chaetomorpha will not dissolve suddenly when starved of nutrients or light. There will be plenty of time and signs before Chaetomorpha dissolve. Chaetomorpha also lack the ability to attach to objects making removal very easy.
Long term control of excess nutrients is essential for a successful and beautiful reef aquarium. Although skimmers and frequent water changes are extremely effective in removing excess nutrients, macroalgae is the easiest way to remove excess nutrients.

Reiki symbols have been kept secret until recent times. It is thought that you can’t use the symbols until you are attuned to Reiki. These symbols represent the energy and power that is used during a Reiki treatment. They help the practitioner increase the energy flow in some areas if needed. Of course, there are variations to these symbols in the different schools of Reiki. They all represent energy and they all work the same. It is what they mean that gives them their power.
Cho ku rei is the power symbol and is used to help focus Reiki energy. You can draw this symbol in the air over the affected limb or body part and push it down into the body. This helps to anchor the healing intent of the practitioner into the patient’s body.
You can also use this symbol to charge crystals or even the food you eat at every meal. Sei he ki is the mental emotional symbol. It helps the Reiki to harmonize all parts of your psyche together. It is sometimes used for getting rid of bad habits or helping to begin a new regimen in your life. Hon sha ze sho nen is the distance symbol of Reiki. It helps you connect to issues of the past, present, or future. It can help with some past life issues as well.
You can also use the symbol when doing distant treatments for patients who can’t travel. Some masters use it at the end of a session to help anchor in your treatment and to say thanks for giving them the opportunity to help you in your recovery process.
Dai ku myo is the master symbol. It activates Self Empowerment and opens your spiritual connection. It is believed that this symbol will work at the genetic and cellular levels. It connects us to God as well as our higher selves.
This is also the symbol used by Reiki masters to activate th attunement process. It has also been used as a protection symbol. You can draw it on paper or in the air whenever you feel frightened.

There are numerous breeds of cat that are rare and exotic. Some breeds are rare, but not so exotic, for example the British Shorthair, which may be difficult for a lover of the breed to find.
Of course, there are some things that any prospective owner should consider before purchasing a rare breed. Not least of which is the cost. Rare breeds are, unsurprisingly, expensive, but you should not be tempted to buy one cheaply from a disreputable source.
With that in mind, if you love cats and are considering welcoming an unusual breed into your life, then here are just a few of the breeds that you may like to consider:
The above cats are among some of the very rarest breeds, but there are many more rare and exotic breeds. For any cat lover interested in rare breeds, it is worth bearing in mind that new breeds are being discovered or created all the time. Some of the more popular rare breeds include:
The American Wirehair was not bred, but discovered in New York, in 1966. Around this time, several barn cats had been born with a mutation of the fur, which made it wiry and coarse. Now, the American Wirehair can be found in many colors and is often seen as a genuinely American cat.
As its name suggests, the Highlander was created from Highland Lynx. It is one of the most recent breeds, first introduced in 2004. Due to its wild ancestry, the Highlander is typically larger than a standard domestic cat, but it is also known for its friendliness and affection. In fact, many owners choose a Highlander, because its temperament is more akin to a dog’s than an average cat’s.
The Kinkalow is another breed that has been introduced recently. It is a dwarf breed and was created by crossbreeding the Munchkin with an American Curl. Subsequently, it has features of both. The Kinkalow has a curled back similar to that of the American Curl, but it has the short legs of a Munchkin.
Lambkin Dwarf Cat
Like the Kinkalow, the Lambkin is a dwarf breed and it is also related to the Munchkin. However, the Lambkin Dwarf was developed by breeding the Munchkin with the Selkirk Rex. The Lambkin Dwarf, which is also known as Nanus Rex, was introduced in 1987. Owners find the quirky look of a Lambkin appealing. It has short legs and a long body, which means that it is visually similar to a Dachshund. Another winning feature of the Lambkin is its eyes, which, in many cats of the breed, are blue.
Another relatively new feline is the Serengeti, which first immerged in 1994. Although the Serengeti looks very similar to the Serval, it is bred from domesticated cats. The Serengeti can be seen in black, tabby or ebony (smoke) colors and is spotted in pattern, making it an aesthetically pleasing animal.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of rare and exotic breeds of cat, but it does detail some of the most popular and some of the rarest of breeds. As mentioned above, when thinking about purchasing a rare breed it is impetrative to visit a reputable breeder.
Equally, it is important for potential owners to realize that owning a cat is a commitment for the lifetime of the animal, so be sure to research the breed to ensure that you can offer your cat a happy, healthy home.

The trumpet has always been an integral part of the traditional big band, both as a lead instrument and as a soloist. The section consists of four players, with the first chair being labeled the “lead” chair and the second part generally considered the “jazz” chair. Although improvised solos can be played by any of the four players, the second trumpet is usually depended upon to cover the solos within the section when needed.
It is the “lead” trumpet that carries the melody over all other musicians during full band sections. This important position carries quite a large responsibility, mainly because it is he/she who is called upon to play the highest notes within the ensemble sections.
Melodic and Harmonic Roles
In traditional big band repertoire, the trumpet section provides both melodic and harmonic roles. Melodies can be played by one or up to all four players at one time. Melodic roles are often coupled with instruments of similar timbre, such as the alto saxophone. As a melodic instrument, the trumpet is generally in the middle range when matched with other instruments. The upper register is used for full ensemble sections where the lead player must carry the melody over the rest of the band.
When fulfilling a harmonic role, the section is usually voiced in either three or four distinct parts. Since the trumpets are set in the upper register of the ensemble, they have the responsibility of covering the upper extensions of the given chord. In harmonic roles, the section often extends the basic chord tones (i.e. root, 3rd, seventh) that are played by the trombone and saxophone sections. These upper extensions often take the form of a simple triad when played alone, but create sophisticated extended chords when playing with saxophone and trombones.
Mutes and Utility Instruments
Modern trumpeters today are expected to own and carry a variety of mutes to alter the sound of the instrument. In every trumpeter’s bag are a straight mute, a cup mute, a harmon mute and plunger. Each of these “tools” are designed to alter the color and sound of the instrument by bringing out low (cup and plunger) or high (straight and harmon) overtones. The use of mutes can significantly alter the overall sound of the section with a wide variety of colors. Gil Evans was one famous arranger that used muted trumpets extensively in his arrangements and compositions.
In addition, most professional trumpeters today own a flugel horn. This instrument looks like a large trumpet, but sounds much more mellow and with a limited high range. Flugel horns are used primarily for melody, but can also be used as harmonic pads with the big band. Modern writers such as Maria Schneider utilize flugel horns in this role quite often
Famous Big Band Trumpeters and Sections
Trumpet players and big band trumpet sections can be found throughout the history of jazz. Maynard Ferguson, for example, made his debut with the Stan Kenton Orchestra during the 1950s. Maynard played lead trumpet and was featured as a high note virtuoso at a young age. He later went on to lead his own big and small bands for more than half a century. High note artists such as Stan Mark and Lynn Nicholson were members of famous Maynard Ferguson trumpet sections.
Bill Chase led one of the more famous trumpet sections in the 1960s with the Woody Herman orchestra. Known for his high range, Bill Chase provided the high note excitement for the band. In 1974, Chase met an untimely death in a plane crash near a small airport in Minnesota, Among the most famous trumpet sections of all time might have been in the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Cootie Williams and Cat Anderson filled soloist and high note roles, respectively, for Duke’s band for many years. Duke often wrote entire compositions to feature Cootie (Concerto for Cootie) on trumpet.
The trumpet will always play an integral role within the realm of big band jazz ensemble music. Because of this, skilled lead players and gifted soloists will always be in demand in the jazz and commercial music industry.

Adding a marine aquarium is an attractive way to make a statement in any home or office, and many attest to the calming effect of watching the meandering of the fish contained within. Marine aquariums are best displayed with the right amount of lighting to show off the fish and other aquatic life that are part of this design element.
Metal Halide fixtures come in a variety of sizes to accommodate the wide array of aquarium sizes available today. Lighting is a must when it comes to making the most of this imagination filled environment. Halide fixtures are the best way to go to create the ambiance that is desired.
When you are creating that ambiance you will have to decide first of all the size fixture you are looking for. If the fixture will sit on top of the aquarium the dimensions should fit exactly with the top of the tank. You may even decide to install pendants which can hang above the tank to illuminate specific areas or the entire length and width of this awesome feature of your chosen room.
You can even install moon lighting in your marine aquarium to light up specific areas or the entire tank and control the intensity of that light with the output adjustment knob. Talk about creating the right mood with the touch of the finger, this will do just that.
Metal halide lighting is just the thing to bring an otherwise pretty aquarium up a notch or two to an exciting display for your home or office, so why not make it part of your installation. You may just need to replace a bulb that has burned out to create that right lighting or an extra fixture to brighten up a specific area of your aquarium for greater visibility.
Installing a completely new system that targets a focal point of the tank can bring out the beauty in a whole new way. By hanging pendants just right, the light provided can point out a special stone or plant that was chosen for its appeal and reflect a radiance that might otherwise be lost.
Creating the right look by using correct lighting techniques will make your aquarium stand out whether in your home or other office. Let’s face the facts, everyone that enjoys a nice aquarium wants to make it stand out from all the rest. What better way to do that than by adding the best lighting; that makes it even more impressive.

July Post Aquarium-and-Fish-Care.com
Hermit Crabs have no directly relation to crabs. They come from the super family Paguroidea. They are named as ‘hermit’ crabs because it is their characteristic to occupy abandoned seashells. They do this to protect their delicate abdomen. Nearly five hundred species of hermit crabs are known to exist and most of them live in water. They live in colonies of approximately hundred occupants.
As the hermit crab grows it changes its shell and searches for a bigger one. Also, hermit crabs with well fitting shells grow faster than the ones with tight shell and the later ones becomes a prey very easily. But the availability of abandoned shells is less and hence the hermit crabs fight each other so as to get ownership of a shell. The number of shells available depends on the population of gastropods around. Very rarely do hermit crabs trade each other’s shells. The new shell will be selected if it is at least one-third bigger than the present shell. The hermit crabs also have a tough exoskeleton, which doesn’t grow with the hermit crab. But the crab shed this exoskeleton and grows another one very fast. This process is known as molting. Molting cannot be determined before hand, but hermit crab does become inactive and may bury itself in the gravel for two weeks. A small hermit crab molts once a month and larger crabs molt once every eighteen months.
Hermit crabs are even kept as exotic pets. Pet owners like them because they are the one requiring least-maintenance of all the exotic pets. They do not grow more than the size of a peach and can be kept in a normal aquarium. They are scavengers and feed on algae and debris formed in the aquarium. Many of the species of the hermit crabs are part of the marine aquarium trade, some are herbivorous and some are omnivorous. Blue legged crab, zebra hermit crab, red reef hermit crabs, common hermit crab and red tip crab some of the types of hermit crabs which are kept as pets. The most desirable of them is the red reef hermit crab or scarlet hermit crab. It has a bright red body with yellow colored eyestalks. But some even grow to nearly twelve inches and feed on clams, corals, and crustaceans.
The aquatic hermit crabs live in salt water with salinity ranging from 1.023 to 1.025. The temperature should vary from seventy-five degree Fahrenheit to eighty degree Fahrenheit for the tropical species. The aquarium gravel bed should be filled with algae and they should also be provided with different types of shells for the hermit crab, to choose from. If they have a larger option they will change their shells frequently, which is an interesting activity to be watched. Food dishes can also be added as a landscape, but the dishes should be low so that the hermit crab can climb out of it. Even other activities like digging, climbing, etc. are very interesting to observe.
They should be fed and watered daily. Commercial food is available at the pet store. But along with that, fresh vegetables and fruits can also be added to the diet. Care must be taken that the fruit or the vegetable shouldn’t be left in the aquarium for more than one day or else it will contaminate the water. The gravel must be removed and the tank should be washed every month. They also must be watered, meaning that everyday they need to be sprinkled with lukewarm water. This applies for land hermit crabs.
It is very easy to train a hermit crab. Training is more like playing. The hand must be held out and the hermit crab must be allowed to crawl on the palm. If the hermit crab pinches and doesn’t let go, run the area under a little lukewarm water and it will immediately let go.
